  • Self Exploration

  • Career/Work goals or challenges

I provide psychotherapy, which is a type of psychological treatment involving clients discussing their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. The goal of talk therapy is to help people recognize and change negative emotions, thoughts, and behaviors through therapeutic interventions. It can be helpful for a variety of issues, such as difficult life events, relationship problems, upsetting or traumatic experiences, difficult emotions, depression and anxiety, other mental health problems, and long-term physical health problems. During a typical 55-minute session, I will listen to you and look for patterns in your behavior, and help you better understand unhelpful patterns in your thinking or actions.

In between our sessions, it can be helpful to reflect on our discussions and pay attention to your experiences throughout the week. Sometimes, I may recommend reading material, give you exercises to work on, or help you brainstorm new behaviors to try. All of these are aimed at deepening our work together so that you can get the most out of your therapy.

I work with adult clients 18+ and do not provide services for children or adolescents.

“Who looks outside; Dreams.
Who looks inside, Awakes.

— Carl Jung

Relationships, especially our relationship with self, are often places of tension.

This tension is a call to action. Relational growth can be painful, gut-wrenching work at times. Work that is not for the faint of heart but so vital for knowing and loving yourself and knowing and loving others well.

Therapy offers space to explore the underlying emotions, core beliefs, and narratives that inform how you see yourself in the world. Together we will develop flexible and critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to create new beliefs and reality-based narratives.

My Style

My clients often commend me for my ability to create a safe, nurturing space where they can truly be themselves.

With warmth, humor, and a grounded approach, I make it easy for them to open up and share their stories.

But I'm not afraid to be direct and challenging when needed, always with your best interests at heart.

I consider it an honor to work with such remarkable individuals, witnessing their humanity, resilience, courage, and wisdom.

Our sessions together will be a collaborative effort, with you as the expert in your own life.

I will listen carefully to what you have to say and provide support as you gain clarity, make connections, and develop the knowledge and skills needed to bring about positive change.

Clients Say I Help With

  • Making Friends with Emotions

All humans dislike difficult emotions. Most of us try to avoid, reject or project challenging emotions. The key to suffering less is in learning how to fully experience and regulate emotions. How can you have a different relationship to your emotions?

  • Felt Sense of Experience

We get stuck in grief, pain and trauma when we haven’t made sense of what has happened to us in a way that is coherent and congruent with how we see ourselves in the world.

  • Identifying Patterns

We all have patterns of behavior that are conditioned and don’t often serve us well anymore. How do I tend to struggle? What protections and defenses do I utilize? Where might my blind spots be?

  • Offering Alternatives

Understanding can offer the flexibility required to change things up! It’s often small shifts that have the biggest impact. What shifts are available to you? Are there other ways of coping, thinking and showing up that might serve you better?

In-person and Online/Virtual Therapy

I offer therapy for individuals both in-person and online so you can schedule the session that works best for you.

In-person counseling sessions are located at 115 Ripley Road in downtown Cohasset, MA. I also serve clients in nearby South Shore towns such as Quincy, Hingham, Scituate, Norwell and Hanover. There is on-street parking available as well as a public parking lot across the street from my office building.

Online counseling sessions are held over a secured, HIPAA compliant video service through Zoom. Many of my clients prefer online/virtual therapy for the privacy it affords them to do the sessions in their own home and also the flexibility it allows in their schedules.

Online counseling sessions are not recorded and no replay will be available.

The price for a session is the same whether you book your counseling session in-person or online.

 FAQs

  • I provide personalized therapy for adults (18 years old +) from diverse backgrounds. Everyone, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, is warmly welcomed. LGBTQI+ and BIPOC inclusive.

  • There are many considerations when determining number of therapy sessions. We will work together to determine needs, goals, and treatment expectations.

I generally see clients weekly or biweekly depending on needs.

  • I believe therapy is most effective when you are open and curious about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and are willing to try out new ways of thinking and behaving.

Long-term change is our focus, and therapy offers proven interventions to support you in achieving this goal. Like most things in life, the effort you put in directly impacts the outcome. It's also important to use the right interventions, and we will work together to ensure that you are receiving the right support

  • Individual therapy is a personalized approach aimed at addressing the unique needs and aspirations of each person. Despite the interconnectedness of personal goals with others in your life, individual therapy underscores the idea that you are the primary influencer of your own life or "captain of the ship", as I say. By engaging in self-reflection, gaining insight, and building self-efficacy, you hold the capability to reshape patterns and positively impact outcomes.

  • I have had clients that have worked with me through individual counseling and at a later date, they transition to couples counseling. This transition must be therapeutically appropriate and careful consideration would be applied.

  • Individual therapy sessions are usually 55 minutes.

I also offers 75 minute session if you would like a longer discussion.

  • In our initial sessions, we will assess your needs. I inform my clients that the first session is where I begin to understand them, their world, and how they navigate through it. At the end of the assessment, I will be able to offer some initial impressions of what our work will entail and provide a treatment plan if you choose to continue with therapy. It's important for you to consider this information along with your own feelings about whether you feel comfortable working with me. Therapy may require a significant commitment of time, money, and energy, so it's important to carefully consider the therapist you choose.

  • I do not accept any insurance. I offer receipts for you to submit to your insurance company if you are eligible for Out Of Network (OON) benefits. You will need to request receipts for reimbursment. You are responsible for managing reimbursement and any insurance policy changes that may impact reimbursement.

In order for us to set realistic treatment goals and priorities, it is important to evaluate what resources you have available to pay for your treatment. If you have a health insurance policy, it will often provide reimbursement for out of network providers such as myself. I will provide you with whatever assistance I can in helping you receive the benefits to which you are entitled; however, you are responsible for submitting invoices for reimbursement.

  • For each psychotherapy session, my private pay fee is $175.00 for a 55-minute individual/couple session and $225.00 for a 75-minute couple session. Please note that my fees are subject to yearly increases, and any changes will be communicated to you in advance to allow for proper planning. Payment is expected at the time of each session unless we have made alternative arrangements. Self-pay clients will receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) before starting treatment. The GFE provides an estimate of the costs that private pay clients may incur during the agreed-upon time frame for treatment.

Accepted forms of payment include check, e-transfer, and online payment with a credit card.

An initial evaluation typically lasts 2 to 6 sessions. During this period, we can determine whether I am the best fit to help you achieve your treatment goals. If psychotherapy is initiated, we will generally schedule one 55-minute session per week or every other week at a time that works for both of us. It's worth noting that some sessions may be longer or more frequent. After scheduling an appointment, you are expected to cover the full cost of the session, unless you cancel with at least 48 hours notice. The cancellation fee is $125.00.

  • I am licensed in Massachusetts. Therefore, at this time, I can only work with clients who reside in Massachusetts.
